Lauren Burns created sporting history by winning the first Olympic gold medal for Taekwondo when the sport debuted at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games

Lauren’s upbringing was anything but conventional. Raised in a showbiz family with her father, the King of Pop, Ronnie Burns, and mother, renowned choreographer Maggie Burns, she attended a progressive school that eschewed competitive sports. However, it was her brother Michael’s love for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and taekwondo that would shape her future.

Driven by a lifelong passion for health, Lauren pursued studies in naturopathy and nutrition alongside her Olympic pursuits, incorporating her learnings directly into her own training regimen. Holding a PhD in Athlete Lifestyle and Mindset, she now collaborates closely with the Australian Institute of Sport and various sports organisations while also running a private practice specialising in Performance + Lifestyle Coaching.

An experienced speaker, Lauren has captivated diverse audiences for over 25 years, inspiring more than 200,000 individuals with her engaging and down-to-earth style. Her contagious energy and optimism leave audiences motivated and inspired, as she skilfully transforms personal anecdotes into actionable strategies through tailored keynotes, workshops, and coaching programs.

Lauren is a bestselling author, acclaimed for her books Fighting Spirit and Food from a Loving Home. She is proudly the nutritional ambassador for Nino Early Learning Adventures, where she curates nutritional wholefood menus and education for the children and parents of the Nino Centre’s.

“I just felt tonight that all my competitors were tough, they were the best in the world and I had to go out and give. it everything I had… I had to give it heart, give it soul, give it passion and the Australian crowd really helped to lift me up… The energy was incredible.”
